Substitute teachers deserve more respect

Some students blame having a mean sub on their teachers. What most people really do not know is that finding a substitute is most of the time random unless the sub is privately selected.
“Wow I didn’t know that, I would like to know more and now I feel bad for giving the subs such a hard time,” said Jessie Logan, 11.
There is a specific place online where teachers post that they will need a sub and when a substitute is looking to work that day they can take the position. It is almost on a first come first serve basis.
“I like it when teachers tell us that they won’t be there and then the teachers ask us what sub we would like to have, since most of us know a lot of substitutes,” said, Deena Schwen, 11.
Other times teachers will do as they please and call a sub who is a friend of there’s and whom they prefer. Most teachers will pick someone who can be trusted not to get off task with their students and a sub who is a teacher in that same subject. It is an interesting process that teachers have to go through before they can be sick or miss a day.
“I love getting a substitute who doesn’t say a word the whole class, that is the best and it makes my day,” said Brennan Horton, 10.
Now that you know what substitutes have to go through to get to work in the day, you should be giving them an easier time in the class room.
